Fish + chips with smashed peas

There's nothing like the good old British food tradition of fish and chips, served with peas and tartar sauce.


Stuff you’ll need

Get Stuck In

1. For the fish batter mix the follow ingredients: plain flour, self-rising flour, sparkling water, beer and malt vinegar. Mix them well whisking them until you have a smooth butter.

2. For the peas: take the peas out of the freezer 10 minutes and then place them in the thermomix, adding butter salt pepper and mint and roughly smash them. 

3. For the tartar sauce: Cut in chunky pieces, gherkins, shallots, capers and finely chop the parsley. Once done that, add the mix in the mayonnaise and stir them with the spoon. (Don’t use a blender).

10x 180g cod tails
750g plain flour
350g self-raising flour
1l stout beer (I love Yakima Red)
25ml malt vinegar
360ml sparkling water
1kg peas
250g butter
3 lemons
200g mayo
300g capers
6 gherkins
100g banana shallots
Handful of parsley
